Gemstone Certification

Luxe Lustre Gems collaborates with distinguished independent laboratories in Sri Lanka, led by senior gemologists who are respected within the industry for their expertise and credibility. When you purchase a gemstone from our website, you will receive a certificate of gemstone identification issued by one of the following labs:
  • Gemmological Institute of Colombo (GIC)
  • Precious Gem Testing Laboratory (PGTL)
  • Atom Gem Lab

These laboratories employ testing methodologies including Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman Spectroscopy, and Ultraviolet–Visible Spectroscopy (UV-VIS), ensuring that gemstones are identified according to the highest international standards with accuracy and reliability. Moreover, the authenticity of these certificates can be verified online for added assurance.

Details on Gemstone Clarity

Natural gemstones often contain mineral crystals or cavities formed during their creation in nature. These unique birthmarks, referred to as inclusions, significantly influence the clarity of a gemstone.

Gemstone Clarity, alongside Color, Cut, and Carat (weight), comprises the Four Cs of gemstone grading. Clarity plays a crucial role in how light interacts with and passes through a gemstone, thereby affecting its overall quality. To make an informed purchasing decision, it is essential to grasp the various clarity grades.

At Luxe Lustre Gems, we assess the clarity grades of our gemstones using a scale developed by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), as detailed below:

IF (Internally Flawless) Gemstones in this category exhibit no inclusions under 10x magnification, although surface blemishes may be present.
VVS (Very, Very Slight Inclusions) or Eye Clean These gemstones may contain slight inclusions observable only under magnification. They appear free of inclusions to the naked eye.
VS (Very Slight Inclusions) Gemstones in this grade may have slight inclusions visible to a trained eye under normal observation but do not detract from the stone's beauty.
SI (Slightly Included) Gemstones graded as SI have noticeable inclusions visible to the naked eye.
I (Included) Inclusions in these stones are easily seen without magnification.

We strive to accurately represent each stone available for purchase on our website. Please note that we employ a 10x macro lens to capture the photos and videos of our gemstone product listings, which may reveal details not visible to the naked eye.

It's worth mentioning that gemologists utilise inclusions to identify and authenticate gemstones. The type of inclusion within a stone offers insight into its geographic origin, as certain types are characteristic of specific gemstone mines or regions.

Inclusions contribute to the uniqueness and character of your gemstone, making it truly one-of-a-kind. If you have any further questions or concerns about Gemstone Clarity, please don't hesitate to contact us via email at inquiries@luxelustregems.com or on WhatsApp at +94 77 350 4303.
